Miss Florida Everglades 2023

Congratulations to Steffi Casimir, SCS Class of 2012, on being crowned Miss Florida Everglades 2023!

Nicholas Diamond, SCS Class of 2012

Nicholas Diamond, SCS Class of 2012, graduated from UNF with a major in sport management & a minor in marketing. Nick is an inside sales executive for the Miami Marlins!

Kristin Lake, SCS Class of 1999, is the author of “The Veterinary Technician’s Guide to Emergency and Critical Care” book on veterinary medicine and the founder of VetMedMath.

Sophia Crissy, Class of 2014

Sophia teaches Pre-Calculus at Cardinal Gibbons High School, where she also coaches JV Cheerleading and Robotics. She graduated from CGHS in 2018, received her B.S. in Secondary Mathematics Education from UCF in 2022, and is currently working on her M.Ed in Educational Leadership from UF (expected 2027). Sophia is the first coach to take the CGHS Robotics Team to the State Championship, where they qualified for the 2023 VEX World Championships, finishing in the top 200 worldwide!

Dr. Sarah Feeley, Class of 2009

Dr. Sarah Feeley graduated from SCS in 2009 as the class Valedictorian. She attended Cardinal Gibbons, the University of Michigan, Wake Forrest Medical School, and started her pediatric residency in New York City in 2023. Ms. Jodi Beyer remains her favorite SCS teacher. Sarah's father, Steve Feeley, graduated from SCS in 1983 and her mom, Edith, is a teacher's aide at SCS. The Feeleys are a true Charger family!

Camille Chambliss, Class of 2010

Camille Chambliss, SCS Class of 2010, has been working as a recruiter and earned her Master of Science in Human Resource Management & Development at New York University in 2023. She has traveled to 4 continents, speaks both English and Spanish, and is currently learning French! Camille's favorite SCS memory is Sports Day!

Miss Julie St. Thomas - CGHS Faculty

Julie teaches Mathematics at Cardinal Gibbons High School where she is also the Mathematics chairperson, Co-Director of Student Activities, and coach for both competitive and sideline cheerleading. She graduated from CGHS in 2013, received her B.S. in Accounting from USF, and is currently working on her M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from UF (expected completion 2025).

Mrs. Ashley Herbert Wright - CGHS Faculty

Ashley teaches AP US Government and AP Psychology at Cardinal Gibbons High School. She graduated from CGHS in 2009, received her B.A. and M.A. from FAU and her Ed.D. from the University of South Carolina. Her mom, Sandy McNeal '80, and sisters Sierra '08 and Erin '09 are also Charger Alumni.

Jillian Malinski '16

Jillian Malinsky - National Champion in the Phi Alpha Delta Mock Trial Nationals in Washington D.C.

On Sunday, Oct. 28th, Jillian Malinsky became a National Champion in the Phi Alpha Delta Mock Trial Nationals in Washington D.C. She was competing for the University of Florida and was also named 'Outstanding Attorney' of the competition. Jillian previously captained the Speech & Debate Team during her years at Cardinal Gibbons. She will graduate from the UF Honors Program in May with plans to attend law school.

Miami pilgrims visit Fatima

MIAMI | Miami's World Youth Day pilgrims landed in Lisbon July 30, 2023, after making a pitstop at Madrid's Barajas airport where they celebrated Sunday Mass. Miami Auxiliary Bishop Enrique Delgado is accompanying a delegation consisting of 55 pilgrims from St. Thomas University; Cardinal Gibbons High School; and the parishes of St. John Neumann, Notre Dame d’Haiti, St. Mark, St. Thomas the Apostle and St. Louis.

Gibbons student works to send war heroes to capital

FORT LAUDERDALE | Avery Patton is out to fix a problem she didn't cause: a lack of opportunities to honor war heroes. Honor Flight South Florida sends veterans from wars in Korea, Vietnam and World War II to Washington, D.C., for day trips to war memorials. But enrollment has lately plummeted, leaving the all-volunteer organization short on spots for future flights.
