Student iPad Program
St. Coleman School provides iPads for student use at all grade levels. Our PreK through 2nd grade classes have a shared cart of iPads at each grade level for small group and whole class use. 3rd and 4th grade homerooms have carts of 1:1 iPads assigned to individual students for school use. These iPads do not currently go home with the students. All of our students in 5th through 8th grade have 1:1 iPads for use throughout the school year both in class and off campus.
Our student iPads are provided with many apps and access to a number of digital textbooks and online subscriptions purchased by the school to enhance their learning environment. Student iPads also have access to CIPA compliant filtered Internet. Additional information about our iPad program can be found in the documents posted on this page.
Apple Distinguished Schools & Apple Teachers
St. Coleman School started a new accreditation cycle in January 2019. One of the goals we have set for ourselves is to become an Apple Distinguished School within this next self-improvement cycle. Apple Distinguished Schools are centers of leadership and educational excellence that demonstrate a vision for learning with technology. They inspire student creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking while cultivating environments in which students are excited and curious about learning.
In January 2019, there were 470 schools in 34 countries with the distinction of being named Apple Distinguished Schools. Ten of these schools are in Florida and two of these ten are Archdiocese of Miami schools - Archbishop McCarthy High School in Southwest Ranches and Immaculata-LaSalle High School in Miami. St. Coleman would like to be the first ADoM elementary school to earn this distinction.
Along with an established one-to-one program for our students and faculty, another early step in this process is for our teachers to earn Apple Teacher certification by completing a course of online modules through Apple Education. We challenged our current faculty to reach this goal before the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year - and the majority of them met the challenge before Easter vacation!
Our faculty has been working hard to earn Apple Teacher Certification. A drawing was held for teachers that completed their certificates before Easter vacation and Mrs. Deleuze won the jar filled with gift cards and other goodies!"
