Since 1959, St. Coleman School has provided a strong academic curriculum within a Catholic community. SCS recognizes that each student is an individual with his or her own developmental needs. We also know that a solid classical education gives students the firm foundation they will need for high school and beyond.
In addition to the core subjects, our students have at least one co-curricular subject class included in their schedule each day. Resource programs provide additional instruction in math and reading. 7th and 8th grade students have the opportunity to take algebra and geometry classes at Cardinal Gibbons High School. Students also have opportunities to compete in math, spelling, geography, art, and general knowledge competitions, be a star in drama productions, choir and band performances, and televised morning announcements, and find many other opportunities to shine with their unique skills and talents.
STREAM is an expansion of STEM. It is an acronym for Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, the Arts and Math. Catholic schools take the principals of STEM, infuse religion across all subjects, and add the arts to provide students the creative thinking skills necessary to communicate and advance STEM in the real world. STREAM is not a new curriculum, but a framework for creative instruction that enables teachers to focus in an interdisciplinary way on Science, Engineering, Technology and Math (STEM), while integrating the Arts (STEAM), and allowing Religion to flow throughout the daily routine (STREAM).
